Jacob Karlzon: Open Waters

“Premium” is Montmartre’s series of rare intimate concerts with jazz giants that you cannot normally meet on small intimate stages. These concerts are priced above the normal tickets to cover costs and travel for these heavy-weights.
Jacob Karlzon (Piano/Keys / SE)Morten Ramsbøl (Bass / DK)Niclas Campagnol (Drums / SE)

The Swedish pianist and composer Jacob Karlzon have become familiar with a number of musical genres throughout his career. He started off as a classical pianist but has later shared stages with big jazz stars such as Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone and Billy Cobham. Karlzon’s music has a unique Scandinavian touch and unites melancholy and sensitivity with heat and passion. With a desire for continuously developing his musical expression, he enters an open dialogue with his co-musicians and audience on his new album “Open Waters”. He marks the improvisation as one of the key reasons for making his way into the jazz genre. Based on this form of spontaneity Karlzon manages to communicate directly with his audience and we can expect a night filled with mutual exchange of energies and emotions which give rise to a very special musical experience.
