“Upcoming” is Montmartre’s series of talent concerts where upcoming artists test the boundaries of jazz.

Marek Konarski & Folk(s) is an international (PL-DK) project created in Copenhagen by the leader and saxophonist Marek Konarski. The band will play jazz inspired by Polish folk and classical music. It is an amazing connection between American and Slavic culture. The quartet consists of great, young and awarded musicians, current and former students of Syddansk Musik Konservatorium in Odense. Each of them is becoming a big name in contemporary european jazz scene. Marek Konarski was Jazz Musician of the year 2015 on Fyn.

This concert is presented in collaboration with the Rytmisk Konservatoriums Venner, who will award Marek a grant this fall.

Marek Konarski & Folk(s) er et polsk/dansk-projekt, der blev startet i København af saxofonisten Marek Konarski. Bandet spiller jazz, som er inspireret af polsk folk og klassisk musik. En fantastisk forbindelse mellem Amerikansk og Slavisk kultur bliver skabt, når de fremfører deres musik. Kvartetten består af unge, talenfulde og prisbelønnede musikere, der studerer eller har studeret på Syddansk Musik Konservatorium, Odense. Hver især er de ved at udvikle sig til store navne på den europæiske jazzscene. Marek Konarski fik prisen som Årets Jazzmusiker 2015 på Fyn.

Denne koncert præsenteres i samarbejde med Rytmisk Konservatoriums Venner, som i dette efterår tildeler Marek et legat.
