Carsten Dahl Golden Ratio + George Garzone

George Garzone (Tenor Sax / US)Carsten Dahl (Piano / DK)Daniel Franck (Bass / SE)Jakob Høyer (Drums / DK)

Don't miss these two nights in Montmartre of extremely creative quartet playing. Its the first time that Carsten and George meet each other and play together and the four of them are a a perfect match in terms of poetic and explosive interplay. George Garzone is a member of the Fringe, a trio founded in 1972 that includes bassist John Lockwood and drummer Bob Gullotti. The group has released several albums. Garzone has appeared on over 20 recordings. He began on tenor saxophone when he was six, played in a family band, and attended music school in Boston. He toured Europe with Jamaaladeen Tacuma and performed with Jack DeJohnette, Joe Lovano, John Patitucci, Danilo Pérez, Rachel Z, and Bob Weir and Ratdog. He is an unique player with no limits always present in the moment. A true composing musician and playing composer. Carsten Dahl is undoubtedly one of the world's most talented pianists. With a wealth of ideas and fierce creativity, he brings all the combinations he is involved in to a towering level. Dahl improvises freely in the jazz tradition with compositional genius and has received countless awards and praise from critics worldwide. This evening, Carsten Dahl is on the field with his brand new venture Golden Ratio Trio - a musical collective, where two of Danish music's finest capacities, bassist Daniel Franck and drummer Jakob Høyer, are burning. Both have over the years played together with a string of names from both the jazz and rock scene. Golden Ratio's music consists of the composition of the moment, but also of decidedly newly written tracks and some well-known melodies in their own arrangements. It is poetic, moving, swinging, wild and polyphonic. Its world strives for a collective balance in expression and is carried forward by the inner uncompromising necessity of the three individual musicians and their mutual understanding to create the sonic community of the moment.
